Hi my name is Helyn, or in some groups I am known as Angel Helyn.The picture above is my hubby and
me.
We moved to Florida in 1983,after my husband retired. We had lived in Jacksonville, Florida when we were
first married. We lived there two years, but since our families were back up north we moved back.
I was born in Marshalltown Iowa and lived there for 25 years.We also lived in DesMoines, Iowa and Rapid City
South Dakota.Rapid City was a booming place when we moved there as they were building missile silos. When the missile workers
left so did we.
We moved to the Quad Cities,( Rock Island, Moline, East Moline, Silvis ). My hubby went to work for John Deere
Plow Works. I worked for an appliance store, Nice to get all your appliances at cost. LOL.
Most of our vacations were spent in Florida or on cruises. We decided when we retired we would move to Florida.Well
that`s not quite true,at one point we did buy property in Arkansas,which was suppose to be for retirement.We did sell
two places, but still own property in Horseshoe Bend,Arkansas.Anyone want to buy a great piece of land.?
We have been married for 52 years.We celebrated our 51st anniversary with our son David and his wife in
Orlando Florida. Went to The Arbabian Nights, had a great time.
As I am a big Nascar fan, the kids made arragements for me to ride in a race car at Petty Enterprises
at Disney. What a thrill, especailly for an old gal like me.What a thrill going around the track at 150 mph.That didn`t bother
me,what did was the fact that I had to crawl in the window and it`s 15"x30". But I made it.
We have three children. I have a son David,from my first marriage,and two stepchildren. Valerie who lives
in Illinois, and Dennis who is deceased. We have 9 grand children and 15 great grandchildren.Our family is still all up north
and we miss them. Don`t think we could live with ice and snow anymore. Love snow, but only for "Christmas", then poof be gone.
I started on Web Tv in 2000 and in ,2005 went to a computer and boy am I still learning.
I collect Angels and that`s what inspired me to make my first web page. I also love cats.
Hubby and I both like to bowl. I have been bowling in the same league for 15 yearsWe both enjoy working
in the yard, and believe me that can be a job here in Florida. ( Where`s the dirt.?) all we have is sand,but you can grow
pretty flowers but you have to work at it.,water, weed,fertilize,weed, water etc>!!
I Play cards once a week at the Senior Center, play on the puter and I play the organ,crochet,paint and
dabble at writing poetry.

Since our grand babies are all up north, we rely on the neighborhood children to remind us what it`s like
to be so young and full of pep..Sometimes I wonder if I was ever that young. LOL
Our bodies may say we are senior citizens, but our minds still say"hey you aren`t old, you only look that
way"

Update on our lives..My hubby has Macular Degeneration and we are now trying to sell our home here in
Florida and move back up north.We are going to need help in the future and we need our family near.New problems, hubby has
high platlets and is being treated for them at the Florida Cancer Institute,from what I understand about this is that it`s
a form of blood cancer.
The housing market is very soft right now, but we can wait, and the right person will come along and we`ll
be on our way north.Keep us in your prayers.
